Mobility and Balance with the Alexander Technique
Sleep Better with the Alexander Technique
I began learning the Alexander Technique due to persistent back and neck pain, and discovered a path to mind/body wholeness that benefits every aspect of my life. I worked as a translator for over ten years, and I now apply the Alexander Technique to sit comfortably at the computer and to manage stress and anxiety. Pain interfered with dancing and my enjoyment of life, and now Alexander Technique helps me find balance, connection and ease in dancing. I am passionate about helping others to discover and develop mind-body awareness, improved freedom of movement and the ease, well-being, and freedom of choice that come with practicing the Alexander Technique. The Alexander Technique provides a path to allowing harmful habits of posture, movement and thought to change through a process of self-discovery.
I combine Alexander Technique-based mindful movement and pain coaching to help people overcome pain and to rediscover possibilities of movement, posture and wholeness of self. I work with people from all walks of life to prevent occupational musculoskeletal injury and persistent pain.
I am a certified Alexander Technique Teacher and Therapeutic Pain Specialist helping people to recover freedom and ease of movement and to reduce pain and stress. My interest in pain grew out of my own journey through persistent pain and a fascination for observing my own and others’ recoveries. I delved into the world of pain science and am now working toward a master’s of science in pain management. I am also involved in The Poise Project “Alexander Technique and Pain Management, Recovery and Prevention” initiative as the Montana Regional Team Leader.
My publications include “Alexander Technique helps musicians change harmful habits and enhance expression” in Cadenza, Volume 64, No. 2, January 2020 and “My Discovery of a Painless Way to Translate (Better)” in the Japan Association of Translators’ “Translator Perspectives’ anthology.
I graduated from the Escuela de Técnica Alexander Buenos Aires in 2014 and was certified by the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique. I am also certified as an Art of Running Instructor to teach the principles of the Alexander Technique applied to running. I am a member of the American Society for Alexander Technique and the Asociación Argentina de Profesores de Técnica Alexander. I hold a BA in sociology from UCLA. In addition to studying pain, I dance tango and Brazilian dances, which I taught for many years, I play the violin, and I enjoy running. I am also a student of nonviolent communication.
I am available for in-person and online Alexander Technique classes and pain coaching by appointment.
