Resilience Training for UM Veterans

A native Missoulian, Casey enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1999 and got out after three combat tours and one tour as a recruiter.

After getting out, Casey had a difficult time readjusting. He fell off the grid and it took three years for him to get well enough to re-engage with the world. He attempted college and did well for a couple years but found he was losing focus and motivation. That's when he took a yoga class on campus to help with the added stress of college and, although he took a break from school after that semester, he kept yoga in his life. He soon realized that he could help maintain the health he had found and help others if he pursued a path in yoga instruction and peer counseling.

Casey is proud to have come full circle and to now be leading the very same UM Yoga class that inspired him to this passion in the first place. It wasn't until he found holistic healing methods like yoga that he started to feel he was making permanent and sustainable progress in his life.

His hope is that this information will find and help others in the way it has helped him transform his life for the better.
